About this place
When settling in at Shinjidai, the signature Dengushi skewers are the natural starting point. Crisped chicken skin is coated in a sweet, savory sauce, offered at an accessible price that makes it easy to keep ordering round after round. You can order them as single skewers (1), but groups sharing a table often opt for the dramatic pyramid platters, stacked high on wide plates, which also allow for side-by-side tastings with the spice-dusted Dengushi no Aka.
The drinks list is tailored to complement the skewers. Beyond draft beers and 1-liter Mega Highballs, the lineup features casual sips like the nostalgic Punch Lemon Sour and the Garigari-kun Sour poured over an ice pop. The side menu expands well past poultry, spanning high-heat stir-fried greens, a hands-on potato salad, crisp nori-wrapped tempura with 10 times the seaweed, and the chew-tender charred doru-yaki.
Inside, the room buzzes with casual energy, well suited to winding down with friends without standing on ceremony. Operating from 17:00 in the evening through to 5:00 the following morning, the izakaya serves reliably for a swift post-work drink, a late-stage second party, or a midnight bite.
